BUSINESS ANALYST II

The Business Analyst II is a full-time salaried position. 

This person is responsible for replenishment buying as well as examining the entire sales and purchasing processes.  This person recommends tools and systems to facilitate efficiencies in all operational areas.  The goal is to maximize both sales volume and the efficiency of the sales and purchasing processes. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Reports to work when scheduled and on time. Adheres to company policies and department guidelines.
  2. Responsible for proper replenishment, of assigned products.  Maintains theoretical inventory as indicated by DFIO.  Some items deviate from this because of special buys, seasonality, and other factors. Determines and maintains proper fill rates, constantly monitors slow moving items & makes recommendations to Management. Takes Advantage of forward buys, and maintains related history.
  3. Develops and produces reports for the sales and purchasing departments, including: sales penetration report, new item analysis, seasonal item report, Hy-Vee outside purchases, item ranking, and miscellaneous supplier sales reports as requested.
  4. Point of contact to coordinate projects between internal departments and IT. Work with IT in developing software programs.  Serves as an internal expert resource for Queries.
  5. Develops tools and procedures to offer enhanced information for the benefit of customers and PDI. 
  6. Develops and produces reports for the sales and purchasing departments, including: sales penetration report, new item analysis, seasonal item report, Hy-Vee outside purchases, item ranking, and miscellaneous supplier sales reports as requested.
  7. Responsible for accumulating, analyzing and sharing information internally within the company.
  8. Develops tools for sales associates to enhance information for the stores; purchasing department to gain efficiencies in forecasting and event planning; and suppliers to gain efficiencies in the supply chain network.
  9. Prepares analyses of Hy-Vee program items.
  10. Participates in training PDI employees, customers, and vendors in new systems designed to automate the sales and purchasing processes.
  11. Develops tools for purchasing department to gain efficiencies in forecasting and event planning.
  12. Develops tools for suppliers to gain efficiencies in the supply chain network.
  13. Works with Purchasing, Sales, Transportation, and Warehouse departments to analyze cost of operations and develop efficiencies.
  14. Coordinates and distributes quarterly results of efficiency gains and current projects.
  15. Facilitates training PDI employees, customers, and vendors in new systems designed to automate the sales and purchasing processes.
  16. Assists purchasing with ad projections and ad actual comparisons working towards better ad planning. Also prepares analyses of Hy-Vee program items.
  17. Works with Purchasing, Sales, Transportation, and Warehouse Departments to analyze cost of operations and develop efficiencies.
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQURIED TO PERFORM JOB 
  • Excellent customer service skills with ability to analyze and interpret information and problem solving and attention to detail. 
  • Good math and statistics abilities, replenishment and procurement skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, good organizational, and computer skills. 
  • Computer proficiency in; Microsoft software, Visual Basic is a plus, and spreadsheet abilities, and DFIO buying software.  Understanding of SQL preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Good product knowledge and understanding of distribution process, retail sales, and purchasing.

This position is considered sedentary to light in nature according to the Department of Labor Weight Classifications with the primary functions of the job being sedentary in nature.  This is a skilled position with frequent handling of paper, listening, talking, hearing, writing, seeing, reading, dealing with people, influencing others, and evaluating information.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB: High school graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related area preferred.  3 years minimum experience in food industry required.  Experience in procurement and analysis preferred.
